Willie Joe Shine...RIP

Just a note to mark the passing of Willie Joe Shine (Boherbue) who died over the weekend. Willie was a scoring member of the Cork team that won the all-Ireland Cross Country Championships in 1963 and Junior in 1961. He was a member of Meelin AC who won Senior Cork Cross County Championships three years in a row in 1960, 1961 & 1962 and 2nd in 1963.

The All Ireland Junior of 1962 [then a non age race] was ran in Cavan, individual winner was Willie Webb RIP., Rising Sun the first Corkman to do so, W J Shine was the second scoring member of the winning Cork team. The All Ireland Senior that year was ran in Carrigaline and Cork were runners up, with W Webb second. Cork won the All Ireland senior in 63 and 64 and W J was a scoring member in both years, others scoring in one or both of these years were Willie Webb, 3rd ind. 63, John O Brien, Willie Neenan RIP.,Mattie Murphy RIP.,Jackie O Callaghan and Denis Buckley.
