In terms of preparation for the Cork marathon the date for the half marathon is a bit off. Most runners will be doing there last long run that weekend. It would have better to have had it scheduled 4 weeks out. Shame ...

I see that the bandon 10km is described as a fast course but my brother did it either last year or the year before and said it was anything but a fast course. Is it a new course or the same one as before, if so why is it described as a fast one good for a pb?

The 10k course is on some nice quiet roads to the west of the town but it certainly couldn't be considered a fast course.

I find the Bandon course descriptions very misleading andreally a soulessday. Wont be doing it again.

Did this race last year enjoyed the lovely quite roads well stewarded good food afterwards in the rugby club. The price is right compared to a lot of races ie Clonakilty and Bantry and also I see that all funds raised are going back to the sport. Money is hard to come by now for all clubs so why not support these races. If I remember correctly the winner two years ago went on to win the Cork Marathon .

I did the 10km last year. The course is tough but not too bad. I thought the race had a great unique atmosphere. The local pipe band were playing at the start, there was a bbq afterwards with plenty of sandwiches, cakes etc, there were t-shirts and goody bags for finishers. You could see lots of thought and effort had gone into the organising. I am looking forward to doing it again this year.

to be fair it's a excellent race and it is very tough but a ideal stamina builder for a marathon. The date is all wrong tho.

Much too close to cork marathon to "race" this. I agree with the post earlier around the date being all wrong. Incidentally, only t - shirts for top 1oo and the goody bags were appalling. Money spinner for the clubs.

Did the Bandon half marathon for last two years and really enjoyed it. Very nice course a bit tough but well worth doing. Bandon Athletic club are one of the best and deserve great support, so lads and lassies come along on the 11 th may and enjoy a great run .

The Bandon Half Marathon is a lovely race, two fairly steep hills but a lovely downhill finish into the town. Well worth supporting the west cork club.

Well done Bandon for a great price for a half marathon - puts Cork's half marathon price to shame.

Folks, take it easy please. It's a given that the course is far from flat! The Bandon half is 3 weeks & 2 days before the Cork marathon. If your schedule is your final long run that weekend, please run Bandon for the following reasons:
1. A half marathon race must be like a 16 mile training.
2. There's a 1 mile flat distance from the finish line back to the rugby club, so you're automatically up at 14 miles.
3. There's a one mile very flat loop near the rugby club & race start line. It goes around Old Chapel village. Run or jog it as often as you wish.
The above means that the half marathon race can easily be extended to a long run if required. Throw in the scenery, a few hills, the cheap entry price & the excellent refreshments, just do it!

I'm looking at these comments. Will people ever get over the description of the race the first year. i read the comments after last year and i have to say 99% of them were positive. I did it the first year and last year and yes the description may have been wrong but I must say I totally enjoyed the race. Running is about challenging yourself, you have many different types of races and this is a difficult course. But if you want to run all flat course go and do that. If i remember rightly the winner of the half on the first year had a PB. This is a great organised event and I take my hat off to the organisers for making it a great event. Keep it up lads ill be there on the 11th
