Preview of the Courtmacsherry 10km Charity Run - Sat 27th June (5:30pm)
This 10km charity event takes place in Courtmacsherry in West Cork on Saturday evening at 5:30 pm. This is the 2nd year of this event and there is a slight route change from last year. The start is in Courtmacsherry and the route goes around 3 miles to Timoleague, does 1 loop of the town and then back towards Courtmacsherry and the finish. Last year, they had 2 loops around Timoleague and it caused some confusion!

Here is some information about the run that was supplied to me by the organisers...

Date: Saturday June 27th Starting Time: 5.30pm

Route: Similar route to last year. Courtmacsherry to Timoleague with one lap around Timoleague village before returning back to Courtmacsherry.

Registration: Registration on the day anytime before 5pm in the Community Hall.

Under 16 Girls

Over 35 Women
Over 50 Men
Over 45 Women
Over 60 Men
Over 55 Women
Prizes will be given to the first three home in each category.

Entry Fee: EUR10.00

We have an AAI License for the race- permit number 2047 which we applied for via Bandon Athletic Club.
Refreshments:....We will be distributing bottled water, bananas and a chocolate bar at the finish line. We will be holding a BBQ afterwards but this will be a the fund raising BBQ similar to last year. Prizes will be given for the first three of each category.

In 2008, the field for this event was pretty small with 87 taking part. Perhaps this year, they will break the 100 mark? Considering that there are relatively few races in the west Cork area, this one should appeal to people living in that area.
