Results & photos of the Killeagh 4 mile road race...Sun 13th March 2016

The inaugural Killeagh 4 mile road race was held on Sunday the 13th of March 2016 and attracted a field of 246 runners. In contrast to the Ballycotton 10 last weekend, the weather was dry and mild and made for pleasant conditions for runners and spectators alike.

The race attracted some of the top runners in Cork with Colm Sheehan of Leevale AC winning the men's race. Colm finished 3rd recently in the 3000m at the National Senior Indoor Track & Field Championships in Athlone.

The women's race was won by Aoife Cooke of Youghal AC who of course won the Ballycotton '10' last weekend.

1 Colm Sheehan Leevale AC 19:25    Senior Male  (1)
2 Damien Murphy West Waterford AC 21:38    Senior Male  (2)
3 Darragh Canavan Leevale AC 22:23    Senior Male  (3)
6 Aoife Cooke Youghal AC    23:14    Senior Female  (1)
16 Andrea Bickerdike Leevale AC 24:34    Senior Female  (2)
18 Niamh O'Sullivan An Ríocht AC 24:48    Ages 50-54  (1)  Female  (3)

Those results are slightly off John. Winner was 19:25.3. Sports Timing are amending. Thanks.

Great race and great day for a race. Although I think there may be a problem with some of the times. As I was crossing the line, the timer was at 28.00 min mark, my watch has it down as 28.03, but the results show me at 28.14. Definitely too big of a difference.

Great course and very nice food and drinks after well done to all. Only issue is timing, I was given plus 15 seconds on the clock which was in line with Garmin.

Think leading womens times were off as well they were 12/15 seconds faster than times shown.

This was a great race, on nice quiet roads, with ample parking for all, and good food afterwards.
However I agree with the comments that timing is not correct ?
I am listed 11.5 seconds slower than my Garmin result.
Well done to Killeagh GAA, and all their helpers from Youghal AC.

These are not the final results because they are still 10 or 11 seconds off why can't they get this right

Great race and great atmosphere and delighted to see the updated results are correct. The spread after was top class and very well organised for a first race. Will definitely be back next year.

Just checked my time again now and it is spot on (was out on the first set of results). Great that they corrected it.

The reception afterwards (food, tea) was amazing -well done to all involved. Having some scouts there with water was brilliant too as it was nice to have a quick sip of water on what was a warm enough day. A great event all round -take a bow Killeagh.
