Ballycotton '10' numbers on the way...

On Monday night, over 30 volunteers turned up at the Ballycotton Community Centre where 3,600 race programmes, numbers/chip, pins and sponsorship cards were packed and organised for posting. It was a great gathering of athletes, friends and of course race organisers/committee.

Certainly it was a case of many hands making light work as the assembled force even had time to enjoy a cuppa' (not in a Ballycotton mug ;o) . Photos by Denis Kelleher.

The Ballycotton committee wish to thank all those who came along and assisted on the night.

I could do with another mug ! Wouldn't a nice technical top be a nice finish to a great race..

I would further support this motion to discontinue the mugs. Whilst I appreciate that they are part of the tradition of the race, 'the times they really are a changing'. Perhaps a poll could be run on here, given the permission of the Ballycotton organisers, to gauge how others feel. Do many feel the desire to further add to their mug collection?

keep the mug. i have two of them and i don't allow any one to drink out of them. like running the 10 mile in ballycotton it's the most satisfying part of my day. i have plenty of tee shirts not tea mugs

Also agree with the keeping of the mug. I have plenty of t-shirts and running tops already. The mug is nice to have. The hat handed out at the Cork half marathon in Blarney last year was also nice.

getting the mug is probably the best part of the race!

Every race should try to build its own traditions in all ways and not totally imitate others.
Every runner wants a well organised race, start on time, split times and good stewarding. After that let each race have some unique feature.
KEEP THE MUG

Keep the mug!! Except for the Cork half marathon hat the mugs are the only thing I actually use. I don't have one t-shirt that actually fits me I'd say so they're all thrown into the back of a drawer somewhere

KEEP THE MUG - it is something different and as has been previously stated above - it is a nice tradition. When you visit somebodys home that you may not know is a runner it becomes a nice talking point.

Furthermore, the giving a t-shirt to everyone would take from the prestige of the t-stirts that the first 100 win.

Keep the mug!! I love collecting them. Hoping to get my 7th next week. I love having them on a shelf at home in my study. Like many others I've plenty of t-shirts. Having said that the ones we got at the Dungarvan 10 were really nice.
