Preview of the Liscarroll 8 km Road Race - Sat 25th August (6:45pm) (Updated 4:35pm)
This is a new race on the racing calendar. It is on in Liscarroll in North-West Cork. Looks like the best route to get there is to head North on the N20 Cork to Limerick road and look for a turn off left in Buttevant.
Course - I am told that the area around Liscarroll is pretty hilly so I'd expect that maybe it won't be a flat course. The distance is also a little strange in that it is 8km rather than 5 miles and the markers are every km.
Entries - The entry fee for the race is €15 which is frankly very expensive for what it is. I know all proceeds from the race go towards the Leukaemia Research Unit at Cork University Hospital but how much of that entry fee goes towards it? How much goes towards the €2000 worth of prizes?......and the medal for all finishers?
Flyer - If you want to see the flyer for this event, see the earlier post further down this page (dated Thurs 23rd Aug).
Update - Just recieved this message from Paudie Birmingham (Updated 4:35 pm)
"Just in case you want to put this on your Blog. I rang the Liscarroll culb and I think this is the Liscrroll run. 99% sure. Starts at a pub called the Old Walls and finishes at the community centre. This being the case, the first 2 kms will be hard as the street called Castle Street is uphill. Probably not a bad run to the finish if people have any energy left. Anyway enjoy if you’re doing it...Paudie"
Paudie has put a route of the course up on the following website.........http://www.mapmyrun.com/run/ireland/cork/709976057
Thanks Paudie
